The Future Is Yours! - January 10th, 2023

(Do Not Fret Because Of The Happenings Around You)

By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

TO THE BIBLE: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

(Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

LET’S TALK

The Lord Jesus specified some of the agonising signs that’ll signal the end of the age. He said, “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken” (Luke 21:25-26 NIV). Much of these are already happening and many have become despondent; livelihoods, businesses and economies have been decimated.

Many aren’t sure about their future anymore. But, as a Christian, you shouldn’t be agitated about the future like others are; you should be at rest and at peace. The government or society where you live might promise you a great future, but don’t hope on their promises. God’s plan is the best; your role is to discover that plan and walk in the light of it. Never allow the troubles in the world to get you depressed. Jesus knew you’d encounter crises in this world; it’s the reason He said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 NIV).

Be of good cheer, irrespective of what’s happening around you or to you. Be strong. Be courageous. Don’t give in! Maybe your neighbourhood has been experiencing some attacks from armed bandits, or perhaps some have lost their jobs or businesses in your area; whatever it is, the trouble is only for a short time. The Apostle Paul called it a “light, momentary affliction.” He said, “For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!]” (2 Corinthians 4:17 AMPC). As long as you’re in Christ, you’re in safety; your future is secured. Hallelujah!

Speak: I’m God’s handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus to fulfil destiny and glorify Him with my life. I’m walking in preordained pathways, set on the course that I must follow, and living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for me to live, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.!
