"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8 NIV).
Times, seasons, trends, governments, systems, and people change, but God remains the same forever. He is perfect. He doesn't need any improvement or development. He cannot be better than He already is. He is the greatest and the highest of all. There're people who look at the advancements of this world and think that God is a thing of the past or is too "old school" for these times that we are living in. How far from the truth that is. Only if such people had the knowledge and understanding of God in their hearts.
The technological, and other, advancements of this world are no surprise to God, they're far behind His life, ways, systems and establishments. A deeper understanding of God would show you that God is behind the many positive advancements of this world through the inspiration of thoughts and ideas in the hearts and minds of men and women, which have led to the many advancements that we see in the world. We often make comparisons between the first-world nations, second-world nations, and third-world nations of the world, but there aren't sufficient words to express the great gaps and differences between the life of God and the lives of human beings on planet earth. No wonder the Bible declares that God is able to do immeasurably more than all that human beings could ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). A small glimpse of Heaven would cause a person to never want to return to this world.
God's life is far more advanced than anything you've seen and will ever see in this world. No wonder the Lord Jesus enjoined us to pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10). It's because Heaven is immeasurably more advanced in every way than this world is. God wants those greater things that are in Heaven to manifest in this world also. Can you see why it's so important to look up to God as your Guide, Leader, Teacher and Helper? The third-world nations look to the first-world nations to help them and improve their lives. The whole world needs, so much more, to look to God and to Heaven to help them and improve their lives in every way.
So, whenever you think of the Bible, don't view it as an "old book". View it with the understanding that it is the most important book in the world, with the most important information in the world, from the highest and most advanced Person in the universe. It has the solutions to all of the world's problems, and words that live and remain forever. That's why the Lord Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." (Matthew 24:35 NIV). His words are relevant, powerful and effective throughout all generations, irrespective of how "new" and "modern" the times feel or seem compared to the Bible days.
