"The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, 'Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you...'" (Genesis 13:14-15 NIV).
It's important to set goals that are bigger than yourself in your life; goals that will cause you to grow and make significant advancements. If you set small goals, your growth and the levels that you will attain will be small. Some people set small goals in life, and when they accomplish those small goals, their minds go to sleep, and so they no longer grow significantly, or at all. But it shouldn't be so with you! The only small goals you should set are those that bring you closer to the accomplishment of your bigger and greater goals.
As a child of God, God wants you to dream big and grow big. There's no place in the Bible that prohibits dreaming big. God just doesn't want you to dream competitively and enviously; that is, setting goals to compete with another person in attempt to become better than that person; He doesn't sponsor or condone such attitudes. Rather, He expects your goals and dreams to be good for Him and beneficial to other people. Neither does He want your dreams to be just about yourself and your family, He wants you to dream about your world and how you can and will make a difference in the world. Selfish dreamers don't go far with God. So, dream big in love for God and for mankind. This means: lovingly consider God and other people in and with your goals and dreams.
It isn't enough to just dream big, however. Anyone can dream big and train himself to think that way. You need the Spirit of God to help you to bring to pass those dreams for your life that are consistent with God's purpose and will. If you don't have the Spirit of God to help, teach, guide and counsel you, you will be discouraged and eluded by the big visions that you have. The things that are impossible to human beings will still be impossible to you. So, you need Him.
God says, "...Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit..." (Zechariah 4:6 NIV). You won't be able to accomplish great and excellent success for God with human wisdom or ability; you need the wisdom and ability of the Spirit of God to do so. If you're a Christian and have not received the Spirit of God to live in your spirit, you can ask Him to come into your life today because the Lord Jesus said that it is the Father's (God's) good pleasure to give the Spirit of God to those who ask Him (Luke 11:13). It's one of His deepest desires to give you this great and precious gift! So, be confident to ask Him; and when you ask, receive what you have asked for by faith and you will have it.
If you've not yet received Jesus Christ into your life, today is the day to do so. Without Him, you don't qualify to receive the wonderful and indescribable gift of the Holy Spirit of God. So I encourage you to take full advantage of the blessing of the Son of God. He will give your life a meaning and show you great and wonderful things that you did not know.
