The Only Hope in the World

Updated: Aug 30, 2023

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 KJV)

Many people have come to realise that the systems and institutions of the world that they've trusted in are not as dependable as they thought and hoped they would be. Terrorist attacks, fraud, wars and rumours of wars have caused the nations of the world to be in discomfort. The assumed “world peace” is under constant threat. Diseases that confound medical science springing forth and natural disasters happening worldwide are continuous reminders that there is little or no hope in the world in these challenging times.

But thank God for Jesus Christ! In Him, true hope and peace exist. God saw and understood the many troubles and challenges that existed and would exist in the lives of human beings, and He sent His Son into the world as a solution to those problems: “And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.” (1 John 4:14).

The word "salvation" is a very important word in the Bible. When God speaks of salvation, He's speaking of total deliverance and preservation from every evil and negative thing in a person's life. His solution to the troubles and challenges of men is salvation in and through Jesus Christ!

The opening scripture declares: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). God lets us know here, that Jesus Christ is the only hope in the world for mankind. When He was in the world, Jesus emphasised this truth to the people in His generation; He said, “...I am the light of the world: he who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12 NKJV). He didn’t say that He is “one” of the lights of the world, but that He is "the" light of the world. Meaning that there aren't other lights of the world apart from Him. He also went further to say that the one who follows Him would not walk in darkness, but would have the light of life; meaning that, that person’s life would be full of peace, hope, fulfilment, success and beauty in the midst of a dark and troubled world.

The one who will experience the blessings of salvation is the one who follows Jesus Christ! To follow Jesus Christ means to become a Christian—to become born again, to receive Him as your personal Saviour. Only then can you begin to live that peaceful, hopeful, and fulfilled life that is available, and can only be found in Him.
