“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105 KJV).
In our world, we have many products that have been designed and created by human beings. The majority of these products come with instruction manuals written and illustrated by their manufacturers. The purpose of the instruction manual is to inform you of what the product is, how it functions, and how to use it—it is the manufacturer’s knowledge and understanding of the product, given to you to educate you about the product. The level of detail in the instruction manual will depend on several factors, such as, what the product is, its features, its components, its uses, and so on.
The person who doesn’t have the knowledge and understanding of the product will encounter several problems. He will likely misuse the product, go through many experiences of trial and error, not use it at its highest potentials, or destroy it. The person who gives himself to learning and understanding the instruction manual, however, will use the product correctly and effectively. He will know and understand how to preserve the product and use it at its highest potentials.
Human beings were designed and created by God. Life was designed and created by God. Human beings and life are God’s products. God has full and perfect knowledge and understanding of both. And out of His love and kindness, He has given us His Word (the Bible) to instruct and guide us in life. He has given us His Word to educate us about life: what life is, who we are, what we are, where we came from, why we came, where we are going, where we are to go, and so much more. His Word is a gift and a blessing. It is His instruction manual on life, given to prevent us from destroying our lives, from living incorrectly, and from suffering as a result of ignorance. He has given us His Word to show us how to function at our highest potentials, so that we may enjoy the best of life!
In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, He gives us a list of some of the reasons for giving us His Word: “All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honourably with personal integrity and moral courage]; so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (Amplified Bible). He also says, “...I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit (benefit), who leads you in the way that you should go.” (Isaiah 48:17 AMP).
God is concerned and passionate about your success, joy, and fulfilment in life, that’s why He has given you the gift of the Word: to teach you how to be a true success, and how to live a profitable and beneficial life!
