(You’re Involved In A Fight)
By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
TO THE BIBLE: “...Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
(James 4:7 TLB)
LET’S TALK
Sometimes, in our walk of faith, we encounter circumstances that greatly challenge our faith. For instance, maybe as a leader, you’ve done everything you thought you should and applied all the strategies you know to get your fellowship to grow and make an impact, but it doesn’t seem to be happening.
And now you’re thinking, “What next?” “What more can I do?” At such a time, it’s important that you have a spiritual point of view and realise an adversary is strategising against you, against the Gospel you preach, and against the Church. And to counter him, Apostle Paul tells you to: “Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan”(Ephesians 6:11 TLB).
He knows that if you don’t put on the whole armour of God, you’ll be vulnerable to the enemy. Verse 12 of the same chapter goes on to say:“...we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies—the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world”(TLB).
This fight is not physical combat; it’s a battle where the adversary tries to sway you from the right path through deception. The only way you win in this kind of battle is to do what the Word says—resist him (James 4:7), stand strong in your faith, knowing that you have overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony (Revelation 12:11).
The blood reconciled us to God, gave us life, cleanses us from all sin, and is on the mercy seat before God in heaven. The word of your testimony, which is your testimony of God, is your faith-proclamation of the Word at work.

Speak: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the precious Word I have received today. I’m not ignorant of satan’s devices, and I refuse to fall prey to them. Through my faith in the precious blood of Jesus and by the word of my testimony, I put satan and all his cohorts where they belong—under my feet—in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!
