Learn to Celebrate the Word | 2019

Updated: Sep 3, 2019

"I rejoice in your word like one who discovers a great treasure." (Psalm 119:162).

As a Christian, God hasn't brought you into a sad, boring and dry life; no! The Bible says that God has brought us into a life of glory and excellence (2 Peter 1:3). Nobody can truly walk with God and live a down, sad and defeated life. The Bible says, "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." (Psalm 16:11). That's the real Christian life—it's a life with God in fullness of joy and pleasures in righteousness. This joy and these pleasures are independent of what's going on in your life. Even in the midst of trouble you find yourself rejoicing with joy that's inexpressible, full of glory: "Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory," (1 Peter 1:8). The reason this is so is because you are rest assured that nothing in this world can change the blessings that God has brought you into in Christ Jesus, and that no matter what happens everything will work out for your good (Romans 8:28).

The day you begin to truly discover that life isn't about anything in this world, you'll struggle to be sad and to be really brought down about anything. "Minister Fine, if life isn't about anything in this world, then what is it about?" you'll ask. Romans 14:17 tells us, "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." Life is about righteousness and peace and joy in God (the Holy Spirit). You would do yourself so much good if you became a serious student and follower of God's Word because God, life, you, the world, and every significant and important thing for an excellent and beautiful life are revealed in and by God's Word. 2 Timothy 1:10 tells us that God has, "…brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." This shows you that it isn't someone's experience of life, or someone's philosophical ideas and theories that reveal what life really is. It's the Gospel—the Word of God that we preach and teach—that brings life and immortality to light.

True joy, peace, fulfilment, success, significant growth and progress in life don't come from the world around us or anything outside us, they come from two sources: the Holy Spirit of God and the Holy Word of God. As we walk with the Holy Spirit and discover, learn, understand and receive God's Word into our hearts, that's when we find ourselves living in fullness of joy and experiencing the pleasures that God has for us. Your relationship with the Word of God as a Christian is very important.

One of the things you have to learn to do in your life is to celebrate the Word of God. This is an attitude that God wants all of His children to have towards His Word, and spiritual things in general. Developing a culture of celebrating God's Word in your life not only ensures that you retain it and that it impacts your life in a powerful way, it also encourages God to keep teaching and giving you more of it. The words in our opening scripture are the words of King David. He was so in love with God's Word and took great pleasure in it. What you find in David's life as you study it is that the Spirit of God poured so much revelation and understanding of God, the things of God and life into his spirit and made him extremely wise, insightful and intelligent. God revealed so many things to David that the priests, who were the Bible teachers in his day, didn't even know or understand.

Today, you have the opportunity to know much more of God and the things of God than what David knew because we're living in a day where the operation of God is very different to what it was in David's day. God has so much that He wants to teach and reveal to you. Open your heart and mind to His Word like never before and celebrate His Word when it comes to you and thank Him for it. You'll find Him pouring His thoughts, wisdom and revelations into your heart that keep increasing you from one level of glory, to another!
