“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” (Psalm 8:3-4 KJV).
The psalmist, in the opening scripture, wondered at God’s great interest in human beings and their affairs. He thought to himself, “O, God, you are so great and so powerful. You created this great, big universe, with everything in it. Yet you care and think about mankind, so much so that you would even visit him?” (If you study this Psalm some more, you will discover more beautiful and inspiring truths!) God’s answer to this question is found in many places in the Bible. He shows us that out of all the things He has created, human beings are the most important and valuable to Him! Let’s read what Jesus Christ said about the human soul.
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37). Here, He communicates that the whole world is not as valuable and important as your soul; then He communicates that nothing in all creation is as valuable and important to God as your soul is by asking, “Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” The Bible reveals that Jesus Christ created all things, because He is Himself God, and now, in this portion of scripture, He communicates that no created thing in the entire universe is as valuable to Him as your soul is. He lets you know that nothing is of such a great value as you are that it would be accepted as an exchange for your soul. This is so beautiful; no wonder the Apostle Paul declared: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35-39 NKJV).
God loves you, and He is very interested in you! He doesn’t delight in your sufferings or failures. He is not angry or mad at you as the many religious teachings of this world have made it seem. Neither is He counting your sins and your errors against you, but offers you the remission of your sins in and through Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “...God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting people’s sins against them [but cancelling them]....” (2 Corinthians 5:19 AMP). These are the perfect and beautiful truths of God. When you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour, God wants you to know that all the sins you have ever committed and might commit, are remitted—cancelled, revoked, removed.
