But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day." (Proverbs 4:18 NKJV).
As a child of God, God says that He has made you as a star. People don't look down on the stars, they look up to them. If someone looks down on a star, something is wrong, that person is not seeing the real picture. They're seeing what their imagination is telling them.
It doesn't matter who despises you or is against you in your life. They'd despise you because of what they think they see about you, but you're much more than what they think they see about you. As a child of God, God has honoured you and brought you to a place of honour. So, in reality, nobody can dishonour you. If the greatest and wisest King in the universe has honoured you, does the opinion of anybody lower than Him about you count? Not at all!
Now, this doesn't mean that people won't try to dishonour you. They will; but it isn't a factor. Many tried to dishonour Jesus Christ in His day, and they still try to today, but that didn't and doesn't change who and what God has made Him. As a Christian, God says that He has made you like Jesus Christ (1 John 4:17). The Lord Jesus said, "They hated me without reason." (John 15:25). Just as many hated Him without reason, they'll do the same with you. But it still doesn't count; you're still who God says you are.
Some people may despise you because of how things appear in your life. They may try to define you by the circumstances and situations of your life, but the circumstances and situations of your life don't define who you are, the Word of God defines who you are because God says it's your mirror (2 Corinthians 3:18). The more you look and continue to look into the Word of God and see who and what God has made you, God says that you and your life will be changed from one level of beauty and greatness, to another.
This should help to show you why the negative judgments of other people about you don't and shouldn't count. You don't plan to remain where you are (at the level you're at) in your life, so you'll just keep getting greater and greater. Soon, you wouldn't be at the level that people looked at and despised you for, you'd be far greater, showing you how empty their opinions and hatred were and are.
Don't remain where you are, improve yourself every day. Read, listen to, and study the Word of God frequently, it'll change everything about you, to and for the best. Improve your personality and character. Increase in wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Get better at the things that you do. Become more excellent today than you were yesterday!
