Be Free

Updated: Sep 3, 2019

"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery." (Galatians 5:1 NASB).

You are very valuable and important. This is why you must take good care of yourself. When you're in possession of something that's expensive and valuable, you handle it with great care. You are much more valuable than the most expensive thing in this world; so, you ought to take greater care of yourself. That's what God thinks.

It doesn't matter if another person thinks or treats you like you're not valuable. Their opinion of you doesn't count. You're valuable and important to God. God loves you and thinks of you as a treasure of great value (Matthew 13:44). Can you see why you never have to be afraid of the negative judgments and opinions of other people? Can you see why you don't have to be insecure? Develop the same mindset as the Apostle Paul, who wrote to a certain group of people, saying, "But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment..." (1 Corinthians 4:3 KJV).

God's judgment of you is all that counts! When God looks at you, He doesn't see you according to your errors and mistakes. He views you with a deep and passionate love for you. He knows and sees your true value. He's not looking to punish you every time you do something wrong. The Bible says that God was in Jesus Christ, reuniting the world with Himself, not counting men's sins against them (2 Corinthians 5:19). He isn't counting your sins against you.

This doesn't mean that we can and should live in sin because God isn't counting our sins against us; no. It means that when or if you sin, that sin shouldn't bind you and make you ineffective. It shouldn't hold you down, crush you and control your life. If you sin, God wants you to know that you can come to Him in confidence because He loves you and isn't counting it against you. He wants to help you and wash you from that thing that's troubling you. He'd rather you lived and were saved, preserved and had a beautiful life than destroy you (2 Peter 3:9).

Be free in your heart and mind. Jesus came to give us freedom. Therefore, refuse to be bound by anything or anybody. Live your life in love for God; direct and channel your love towards Him. The more you do so, the more you'll find yourself doing more right than wrong because your love will stir and inspire you to want to please Him and do right by Him: "Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him." (John 14:21 NIV).

God wants to build a relationship that's founded on faith and love with you, not on fear and worry: "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." (1 John 4:18 NIV). Live with confidence today as you build a beautiful life in a deep, heart-to-heart relationship with God, your Heavenly Father.
